Review by hotel critic
I recently had the opportunity to stay at Jaffa Gate hostel during my visit to Jerusalem, and I must say, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel's central location right by the Old City's iconic landmarks such as the Dome of the Rock and Greek Orthodox Church of St John the Baptist offered a unique and culturally rich atmosphere. One of the standout features of the hostel was the assistance provided by the receptionist, Mr Noor. His availability to answer questions and offer valuable insights into local tours and transportation options added great value to my stay. The option to book tours directly at the hotel was convenient, and Mr Noor's help in arranging a taxi on Shabbat was a thoughtful touch. The hostel itself exudes simplicity and tranquility, providing a welcome respite from the bustling streets of the Old City. The shared facilities, including the rooftop terrace with sweeping views of Jerusalem, offered a serene space to unwind after a day of exploration. The room, though basic, was clean and well-maintained, with the option for added privacy with en-suite facilities. The hostel's quiet ambiance and no-smoking policy ensured a peaceful stay for all guests. The free Wi-Fi in public areas was a practical addition for staying connected during my visit. While the lack of luxury amenities may not appeal to all travelers, the value for money and proximity to key attractions make Jaffa Gate hostel a viable choice for those seeking a budget-friendly stay in the heart of Jerusalem.
